Description

[16:32] <Holz> mink
[16:32] <Holz> [22:31] irc.cccp-project.net * Checking Ident
[16:32] <Holz> [22:31] irc.cccp-project.net
No Ident response
[16:32] <Holz> Can you make it reply to the ident request or refuse the request immediately?
[16:33] <Holz> The x seconds sleep until it times out sucks.
[16:33] <Holz> It used to connect immediately in the past, now there's always some seconds to wait until the ident request times out.
[16:33] <mink> hmmm
[16:33] <mink> make what refese the request?
[16:33] <Holz> Which sucks especially as the speed is what makes qwebirc so neat.
[16:34] <mink> refuse

[16:34] <mink> oh
[16:34] <mink> ok
[16:34] <mink> its a port issue
[16:34] <mink> i'll get it sorted

it was not a port issue. the qchat client does not emulate an ident client. installed identd. this issue is resolved but its still slow connecting (hangs on hostname lookup).

so its doing dns resolution fine. the big issue is that it takes a second to do name resolution. thats all it comes down to. this is a qchat issue. not a server issue.

the lag was previous on ident response which looks to be fixed, since the qchat is not connecting to a local IRC server, we will always have DNS lag.
